Privacy Policy

Summary

Lapse is a browser extension that displays your age on every new tab. It is designed to be completely private. Your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.

What data Lapse stores

Lapse stores two types of data, both locally on your device:

• Birthday— Your birth date (and optionally, time) is stored using Chrome's sync storage, which means it may sync across devices where you are signed into Chrome. This is the only data that can leave your device, and it is handled entirely by Chrome's built-in sync infrastructure — Lapse does not operate any servers.
• Preferences— Your display format, color theme, custom gradients, and any sideloaded fonts are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

What Lapse does not do

• Does not make any network requests
• Does not collect analytics or usage data
• Does not use cookies or tracking pixels
• Does not share data with third parties
• Does not require an account
• Does not run any background processes

Permissions

Lapse requests a single browser permission:

• Storage — Used to save your birthday and preferences. No other permissions are requested.

External links

The extension settings include links to a feedback page and a support page. These open in a new tab and are entirely user-initiated. No data is transmitted when these links are opened.

Data deletion

You can delete all stored data at any time by removing the extension from your browser. You can also edit or clear your birthday and preferences from the extension's settings panel.

Children's privacy

Lapse does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no data is transmitted to any server, there is no risk of unauthorized collection.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Since Lapse does not collect email addresses or contact information, we cannot notify users directly.
